About Us

About Canary Biologics

Clinical Integrity

Every product we distribute meets rigorous regulatory and clinical standards. We only represent technologies we believe in and stand behind.

Clinically Driven. Patient Focused.

Our approach is guided by what enables clinicians and their teams to deliver consistent, high-quality patient care—from product selection to practice support.

Transparent Partnership

We build long-term relationships grounded in clarity, trust, and mutual success.

Dedicated to the Science of Sight

Canary Biologics was founded on a simple premise: ophthalmologists deserve a distribution partner that understands the clinical, operational, and business dimensions of their practice — not just a vendor that ships product.

We specialize in dehydrated amniotic ocular grafts because the science is compelling, the outcomes are meaningful, and adoption within ophthalmic clinical practice continues to grow. We distribute only what we fully understand — and we ensure every provider we work with has the knowledge, instruments, and support to deploy these therapies confidently.

Our team brings together backgrounds in clinical care, ophthalmology, medical billing, and practice operations. When you partner with Canary Biologics, you gain access to that collective expertise — not just a product catalog.

"Our mission is to help ophthalmologists achieve better patient outcomes and healthier practices — through the right products, the right support, and the right partnership."

Clinical Evidence

Literature & Research

A curated overview of the science behind dehydrated amniotic membrane therapy, including clinical indications, key benefits, and peer-reviewed publications.

What is Dehydrated Amniotic Membrane?

Dehydrated amniotic membrane (dAM) is a biologically derived tissue graft sourced from the innermost layer of the placenta — the amnion — which is harvested under strict aseptic conditions and processed through a dehydration and sterilization protocol that allows ambient-temperature storage. The membrane is composed of three layers: an epithelial surface, a basement membrane rich in extracellular matrix proteins, and an avascular stromal layer. This unique architecture provides a scaffold for corneal and conjunctival epithelial cell migration and regeneration.

Unlike cryopreserved formats, dehydrated amniotic membrane retains essential growth factors, cytokines, and matrix proteins that confer its anti-inflammatory, anti-fibrotic, and pro-regenerative properties — making it well-suited for a range of in-office and surgical ocular surface applications.

Clinical Indications

Dehydrated amniotic ocular membrane grafts have demonstrated clinical utility across a broad spectrum of ocular surface conditions, including persistent epithelial defects, neurotrophic corneal ulcers, dry eye disease (moderate-to-severe), chemical and thermal burns, pterygium repair and conjunctival reconstruction, post-surgical corneal surface defects, toxic and infectious keratopathy, and bullous keratopathy.

Key Clinical Benefits

Published evidence highlights several consistent benefits of dAM use in ophthalmology: promotion of corneal re-epithelialization, reduction of patient-reported pain and discomfort, anti-inflammatory modulation of the ocular surface environment, minimally invasive sutureless application formats suitable for office-based procedures, and extended shelf life without specialized cold-storage requirements.

Clinical Outcomes and Indications of In-Office Sutureless Dried Gamma Ray-Sterilized Human Amniotic Membrane Transplantation With Bandage Contact Lenses in Various Ocular Surface Disorders

Jo KS, Kim KY, Lee YW, Han SB, Choi CY

A retrospective study of 56 eyes across multiple ocular surface conditions treated with sutureless dehydrated amniotic membrane and bandage contact lenses. Demonstrated complete corneal re-epithelialization in the majority of cases, with significant reductions in patient pain scores. Authors conclude that the approach is minimally invasive and broadly applicable across a range of ocular surface disorders.

Bilateral Sutureless Application of Human Dehydrated Amniotic Membrane with a Specialised Bandage Contact Lens for Moderate-to-Severe Dry Eye Disease: A Prospective Study with 1-Month Follow-Up

Prospective interventional study

A prospective study enrolling 35 patients with moderate-to-severe dry eye disease (OSDI >30) who received bilateral sutureless dehydrated amniotic membrane under a specialized bandage contact lens. Assessments at baseline, 30-day control, and 30-day post-treatment demonstrated improvements in ocular surface signs and symptoms, supporting dAM as an effective in-office treatment option for refractory dry eye.
